Ammi joined his father, who was trained in Paris, in his tailoring business in Morroco at the age of twelve.
Over the next few years he learned every aspect of the craft, from sewing to cutting to making patterns, the latter a very important part in "bespoke" tailoring as a pattern is made for each customer.
At the age of 23, he came to London on holiday. A short time after, he came to Birmingham and decided to stay in the UK.
After working for a company for 16 years as a workshop manager, and as a factory manager and pattern maker in Leeds for two years, he was recalled to Birmingham to manage one of the shops. In 1984 he set up his own business in Moseley, Birmingham.
Since Ammi started his own business, he has made hundreds of suits for people including some famous names as well as suits for the stage and ice skating costumes.
He likes all kinds of challenges.
